...will it cost us our bodies?

People used to write.jpeg

Maybe, due to much of ones daily choreography being micromanaged by algorithmic direction, Our bodies are only ours when we're dancing, but what dancing?
Some dancing makes our bodies decidedly NOT ours.
So we need to structure a dance. To use the technology of choreography to craft a form, a verb, a dance, that will give our bodies back to us. Not as a tether, as a home. The place of experience. The space we take up to facilitate being.
With.

This is some dancing we have been doing to continue thinking through this situation;

future 1

We have sent our bodies to ourselves in the future.

The Before Times

We sent our bodies to ourselves in the future. They have just arrived. We have been without them for so long that we can't just jump back in. There is a procedure of rahabituation. It happens in a group so that we can also remember how to interface.

" We sent our bodies into the future (from ourselves in the past). It was the only way. Now after all this time they are beginning to arrive and we are taking up residence in them once more. The procedure is interesting. It feels like a kind of calibration. This is my body, but I have lived so long outside of it. It feels familiar but not immediately habitual, habitable, like my habitat…

So how to get myself together. Into this body. And then how to be be together with other people in their bodies.

It looks (from the outside) remarkably like dancing. Movement, driven by impulse or curiosity. A pursuit of novelty or articulation / reawakening of skills being remembered. And it is done all together, that we know ourselves mediated thought peers and fellows rather than through reflections or captures.

My body once again becomes the substrate of being. It is once again the site of experience. "

the score

Rehabituation procedure - which body am I in?

  • Watch each other
  • Feel the face
  • Try to execute form - manually, with hands
  • Once we know which bodies we’re in - bear witness to the rehabituation arc.

future 2

The Chamber for Thinking

Being in the Chamber For Thinking

Vision is the only sense still in daily use, we observe and control interfaces with our eyes. The chamber for thinking is the expression of physical skill towards epiphany made possible by chemical, neurological sensory actuation.

" A technology lost. (Physical intelligence through sensuality as base substrate for worlding).

How to actualise the body, the physical intelligence of emotion through chemical response to neurological integration and use. Beyond optimisation instrumentalised movement. Ultimate skill that is not for any other reason than the pursuit of pleasure at executing that skill. "

"we perceive with our whole bodies. And, depending on whether we stand, sit or lie down, we will come to inhabit wholly different worlds." - PG 100 Edward Slopek - Bodies of Art

the score

Reactivate your senses. Enjoy them by savouring the execution of physical skill.

future 3

What can humans do that nothing else can?

I groove therefore I am (in a human body (for now))

In the future, we can move between bodies (human, synthetic and otherwise).

But Human bodies alone have the capacity to groove.

Sometimes it is desirable to be in a human body, sometimes it is preferable to not.

A groove check is performed to check if we in are human body.

The CaptchA of the future, that we do for ourselves.

the score

Generate and sit in the groove.

here we are, dancing our bodies into the future.
